1 actionable tip to grow your salesforce career.
Today’s issue will take about 4 mins to read.
Enjoy 😎
This is how to study for a Salesforce certification.
With 40+ certifications you can earn, choosing to not earn any is a way of the past if you care to see growth in your career. Learning how to study so you can pass these certifications will lead to more job opportunities and a bigger paycheck.
Unfortunately, many ppl don’t do this because…
They don’t create a system
They don’t take notes
They don’t schedule the exam
They don’t get hands-on practice
They don’t read the exam breakdown
Poor career growth and small paydays can all be avoided if you just create an effective study system.
So here’s how, step by step:
Step 1: Set the Date
“A goal is a dream with a deadline.” - Napoleon Hill
They say money is the best motivator which is why you want to do this first. In order to schedule your exam you’ve got to pay, which for most exams it’ll cost you $200. Knowing you’ve already spent the money will hold you accountable for your study efforts in the days to come. You can schedule your exam here.
Step 2: Read the Exam Guide
“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” - Benjamin Franklin
Most ppl make this mistake because they don’t realize this Salesforce provides this resource to them. To avoid making this same mistake go to the credential page on Trailhead. Here you will get a guide that shows you each topic and its weight. The heavier the weight, the more you should study that topic.
Step 3: Buy Study Guides & Tests
“Those that know, do. Those that understand, teach.” - Aristotle
You likely aren’t the first to pass your exam. Others have done it successfully and have likely shared tips on how to prepare. It would be stupid not to use those resources. One resource is focus on force. It’s $40 for six practice exams and one study guide. Well worth your money since it explains why your answer was incorrect and where to find it in Salesforce.
Step 4: Use Quizlet
“Notes are a love letter to your future self.” - Damian Conway
It’s easy to get caught thinking that you “understand” what is being taught while you study. I am here to tell you that you are wrong. As soon as you get up from that study session you are going to forget a large chunk of what you thought you knew. Take the time to document what you are learning on Quizlet, it’s free.
Step 5: Complete Trailhead Exam Prep
This is it, the final step in your new study system.
The last piece should always be completing the exam preparation trail. This is going to matter the most because it’s hands-on practice. You will learn the most when you are doing, not reading. ↓
